How To Get A Police Accident Report In Atlanta

A collision on an Atlanta interstate, highway or city street can leave us shaken up. We might also find ourselves in need of solid evidence to prove we weren’t to blame for our accident.

A police collision report can serve as powerful evidence in your favor. You may need a copy of that report to show to insurance companies who are trying to get out of paying you fair compensation for an injury and/or vehicle damage.

Securing your Atlanta Police Report Document

You should be aware that if your accident only resulted in property damage, your insurance provider may already be working to obtain your accident report.

If you have a personal injury lawyer representing your case, your attorney will be obtaining this report.

Otherwise, you may reach out to the Central Records Unit in Atlanta to get your report. Reports can be picked up between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Public Safety Annex:

Atlanta Public Safety Annex
3493 Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy NW
Atlanta, Ga. 30331

In person, a copy of your report will cost you 10 cents per page. If you want your copy mailed to you, there is a flat fee of $5.

The Central Records Units suggests waiting for at least 5 to 7 business days after your accident before your request to allow the officer time to complete the report and file it.

For additional information, please call 404-546-7461.

You may also purchase your report through the BuyCrash website. You’ll need to sign up for a free account to search for your report and a copy will cost around $11.
