Georgia I-985 Closure Due To Crash December 19 2022

On December 19, 2022, a terrible crash occurred on Interstate 985 in Gwinnett County Georgia. An SUV rolled over causing a multi-vehicle car accident.

According to Fox5 Atlanta, the crash occurred around 1PM near the Buford Drive exit when a speeding Honda Crosstour smashed into the back of an SUV, causing it to roll over and hit a third car. The SUV eventually came to a rest near the median.

This is a 2011 Crosstour similar to the vehicle in the crash. It’s basically like an Accord with a hatchback.

Georgia DOT eventually cleared a lane of traffic to let traffic through until the accident scene could be cleaned up.

Georgia DOT webcams showed a long line of traffic:

What happens after a crash in Georgia?

Once people have called 911 and received proper medical treatment, the pain of dealing with insurance companies kicks in.

Georgia Auto Accident Law uses an “at fault” system in motor vehicle accidents.

The most common type of fault comes as negligence.

In a crash like this, you would think that it would be an open and shut case. However, it just depends. In the event there were severe injuries or a fatality, people should always speak to a seasoned personal injury attorney. If people suffered only property damage and minor scrapes and bruises, chances are they will get a fair offer from the at fault party’s insurer.
