A Dodge Charger Scat Pack hit 170MPH During a Deadly Police Chase in Georgia

On February 6, 2022, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that four people lost their lives in a single-vehicle crash just after midnight. FOX News reported the accident occurred along I-75 and took place after the driver of a Dodge Charger Scat Pack edition refused to comply with a traffic stop.

Officials with the Sheriff’s Department said the driver initially traveled at speeds of around 137 mph as he attempted to evade law enforcement. The vehicle eventually reached speeds of up to 170 mph before deputies in pursuit lost sight of the suspect.

11 Alive-TV reported that about five minutes later witnesses spotted the vehicle on fire off the side of the road. The driver had lost control and appeared to have crashed into trees lining the interstate.

In all, four male occupants were pronounced dead at the scene. Two surviving male victims were diagnosed with injuries.

Investigators say they located three guns and 17 credit cards inside the car.

We are deeply saddened to hear of this crash.

How Fast Can a Dodge Charger w/ Scat Pack go?

While we’re not sure which year the Charger was in this crash, the 2020 Charger Scat Pack edition can go extremely fast. It is governed at 175MPH. Of course, it is extremely dangerous to drive at those speeds – Georgia’s roads weren’t built for it, and neither are cars. Stock, these cars put out around 485HP, and car enthusiasts have seen Hellcats and Scat Packs outrunning police on YouTube.

Injury Claims After an Accident Caused by Speeding Drivers in Georgia

People are hurt every day across Georgia because of the carelessness of distracted drivers. The resulting accidents aren’t intentional, but the consequences for their carelessness can be devastating. Unfortunately, motorists can also choose to drive recklessly and put others in harm’s way. Drivers can exceed speed limits and ignore roadway laws to put other drivers and passengers at extreme risk.

If you or a loved one suffer an injury due to the recklessness or criminal actions of another driver, you should be aware of your rights as victims. In accidents caused by an at-fault driver driving recklessly in order to evade law enforcement, a lawsuit may be filed against the driver’s insurance. This claim for damages would seek help for victims with their medical expenses and the wages they give up while out of work. This lawsuit would be filed as a civil case and could move forward separately from any criminal proceedings a suspect faced.
